MidJourney

It’s kinda difficult to describe the feeling I have about MidJourney and other A.I. image making apps. Awe, wonder, excitement, terror, dread, anxiety. Just type in a description to communicate with the A.I. What comes out the other side of the “prompt” is insane and frustrating and very addictive. It’s easy, incredibly EASY to type in some text and be making images that look like you spend days sweating and crafting them in Photoshop or some 3D app. You have to be willing to experiment and relinquish some level of control.

But what can I seriously use this for? How do I include this into my creative workflow …. I thought about this every time I hit send.
For most of the summer 2022, Andrew Szurley and I have trade images we made in MidJourney back and forth. Trying to learn how to craft a prompt. It was exciting and fun.

An idea surfaced at one point – to trade a prompt back and forth while altering just some of it and retaining some bits of the original to create some thread that ties whatever this might be together. Maybe it’ll feel like an A.I. co-piloted story, or a complete mess. Many of the slides are at the very least, beautiful weird interpretations of words.
The video below is what we made it so far.
Remember to be good to the A.I. overlords, they are getting pretty smart
